Canara Bank has informed its customers that the IFSC codes and Syndicate Bank check books will become invalid as of next month. Syndicate Bank customers have been asked to update their branch’s IFSC code by June 30.
Syndicate Bank checkbooks will become invalid
This e-Syndicate Bank Checkbook with the old MICR and IFSC is also valid until June 30, 2021 only.
âDear customer, replace the e-syndicate checkbook and checks issued in the name of the third party as the presentation validity expires on 06/30/2021,â Canara Bank said.
New IFSC codes
The new IFSC code will now start with CNRB instead of SYNB. 10,000 must also be added to its existing IFSC code number. New IFSC codes can be obtained by visiting the following link – canarabank.com/IFSC.html – or by visiting any Canara Bank branch.

âAll IFSCs starting with SYNB will be disabled WEF 07/01/2021,â Canara Bank said.
“We ask that you advise shippers (senders) to only use your new IFSC code starting with ‘CNRB’ when sending NEFT / RTGS / IMPS, from now on,” the lender said on its website.
Swift code to delete
Canara Bank also announced the discontinuation of the current Swift code used by former Syndicate Bank customers for foreign exchange transactions.
âThe old Syndicate Bank Swift code (SYNBINBBXXX) which is used to send or receive SWIFT messages for foreign exchange transactions will be deleted as of July 1, 2021. All our customers are advised to use the Swift code (CNRBINBBFD) for each of their foreign exchange needs, âhe said.
As part of a massive merger plan, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the merger of 10 public sector banks into four public mega banks in 2019. In April of last year, Syndicate Bank merged with Canara Bank . While the merger entered into force in April 2020, the IFSC and MICR codes are updated from the start of fiscal year 2022, i.e. from April 1, 2021.
