Subscribers have a wide range of choices when it comes to prepaid plans. All telecommunications service providers are competing to launch plans with additional benefits to attract customers. The main deciding factors in prepaid plans are validity, data limit, and OTT streaming services for most subscribers. In this age of heavy data, another added factor could be additional data offerings. Some prepaid plans offer additional data, which the subscriber can use within a given time frame. This article examines the supplemental data benefit plans available from the two major telecommunications service providers, Airtel and Reliance Jio. While some of these additional data benefits are available when recharging through the respective telecom provider’s website, some are exclusive to their mobile apps.
Prepaid offer exclusive to the Airtel app offering data coupons up to 4G
Airtel announced an “app-exclusive prepaid offerâ€, whereby the subscriber can get up to 4 GB of additional data. Subscriber can get two coupons of 1 GB each with 28-day validity packs on top-ups starting at Rs 359. Users can get four coupons of 1 GB each with 56-day validity packs on top-ups at from Rs 479. As the offer is exclusive to the application, the subscriber must top up via Airtel Thanks App, available for download on the Play Store and Apple Store.
Airtel prepaid plan of Rs 699 offering 3 GB / day, unlimited calling and 100 SMS / day for 56 days is one such package. The plan comes with free 4GB data coupons as an added bonus. The plan also offers 56 days of Amazon Prime membership along with other benefits of the Airtel Thanks app.
Airtel prepaid plan of Rs 549 which provides 2 GB of data / day, unlimited calling and 100 SMS / day for 56 days also has a similar offer of 4 GB free data coupons. There is only 30 days free trial access to Amazon Prime as part of the plan, in addition to other benefits of the Airtel Thanks app.
If the subscriber is looking for additional data benefits in plans below Rs 500, two options are available – the Airtel prepaid plan at Rs 479 and Rs 359. Airtel prepaid plan of Rs 479 is again a 56 day validity pack, offering 1.5 GB data / day, 100 SMS / day and unlimited calling. The plan comes with 4GB free data coupons. Similar to the Rs 549 plan, the app provides a 30-day mobile subscription to Amazon Prime and other Airtel Thanks app perks.
On the other hand, Airtel prepaid plan of Rs 359 is a 28 day validity pack, providing 2 GB of data / day, unlimited calling and 100 SMS / day. The plan comes with an additional offer of 2 GB free data coupons. The subscriber will also have access for 28 days to one of the Airtel Xstream channels – SonyLIV, Lionsgate Play, ErosNow, HoiChoi, Manorama Max – on the Airtel Xstream application.
Jio prepaid plans with additional data benefits
Jio offers additional data with Jio annual plan of Rs 3119. The plan which offers 2 GB / day, unlimited calls and 100 SMS / day is accompanied by 10 GB of additional data. There is a total data limit of 740 GB for the plan. In terms of OTT benefits, Jio’s 365-day annual plan offers one-year access to Disney + Hotstar in addition to Jio’s own suite of offerings.
Jio prepaid plan of Rs 1066 that comes with 84 days is another pack with 5 GB of additional data. The plan offers 2 GB of data / day, 100 SMS / day and unlimited voice in addition to one-year access to the Disney + Hotstar mobile subscription, Jio TV and Jio cinema.
The lowest prepaid rate plan offering additional data benefits is the Jio prepaid plan of Rs 601. The 28-day monthly plan offers 3 GB / day, unlimited voice, 100 SMS / day and 6 GB of additional data. Like the other additional data plans, the Rs 601 pack includes one-year access to the Disney + Hotstar, Jio TV and Jio cinema mobile subscription.
