Alberta-wide food drive chooses drive-thru to help fill shelves for the less fortunate

The Alberta Motor Association has chosen a unique way to help raise donations for food banks across the province this weekend.

On Sunday, the organization mobilizes volunteers across the province for a drive-thru food donation campaign called #StacktoSackHunger, which is part of AMA’s annual Fill Our Fleet campaign.

He says the idea is helping Albertans who might have concerns about COVID-19 by providing a non-contact service between donors and volunteers.

“Donors just drive around, blow up their trunk, and let our volunteers take care of the rest (like picking up a grocery order online, only upside down!),” The organization said in a statement. communicated.

WADA says it hopes to stack the donation boxes higher than ever to help support the nearly 116,400 people who depend on food banks across Alberta.

“Strong communities need strong support – and the need being greater than ever this year, every donation makes a difference,” said WADA.

Calgarians are invited to donate at the WADA main office in Calgary, located at 4700 17 Ave. SW, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Since 2009, the AMA claims to have raised more than $ 767,000 for local food banks as well as 88,618 kilograms (195,370 pounds) of food.
