BNSF Railway announces two new certified sites

FORT WORTH, Texas – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – BNSF Railway Company (BNSF) today awarded two new sites its Certified Site designation. The new sites will bring their respective states to a total of three certified sites for Texas and four for Montana. In order to be considered for designation, sites must undergo a thorough analysis that includes an assessment of environmental and geotechnical standards, available utilities, site availability, and existing and proposed infrastructure. All certified sites offer the convenience of direct rail service.

The newly designated certified sites have an area ready for industrial development:

  • Somerville Industrial, Somerville, Texas – This property consists of 103 acres with no zoning requirements or restrictions and is conveniently located east of State Highway 36, just 20 miles outside of Bryan-College Station, TX.
  • Fort Peck Tribal Industrial Park, Poplar, Montana – Zoned for heavy industry, the site encompasses 45 acres located north of US Highway 2 on the Fort Peck Reservation outside the city limits in Roosevelt County.

Certified sites are part of BNSF’s Premier Parks, Sites and Transload program. The program is a strategic approach that responds to the growing demand for customer site locations by developing various types of facilities across the BNSF network. Businesses looking to locate in one of these properties could save six to nine months of construction time with this analysis. BNSF certified sites are reviewed by an industry expert to ensure accurate and reliable data. The objective of the program is to provide an inventory of sites served by rail that are available for immediate development.

Details of the 29 BNSF certified sites are available on bnsf.com/rail-developpement.
