A survey published last year by the Guardian found that drinking water for Latinos across the country disproportionately fails to meet federal standards. While millions of people across the country, especially those in rural areas with high poverty rates, are routinely exposed to unsafe water, U.S. counties with more than 25% Latinos experience violations at a rate twice as high as counties with a lower Latin American population. .
