Children’s Museum of NH receives grant from Spotlight Fund

DOVER – The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire (CMNH) has announced that it has received a grant in the amount of $ 10,000 from the Kennebunk Savings Bank Spotlight Fund. The grant will support necessary upgrades to the Museum’s website infrastructure and a content overhaul focused on increasing accessibility to the Museum’s online resources for families and early childhood education professionals. childhood.

“We are grateful for the continued support of our partners at Kennebunk Savings Bank. In addition to enabling us to better serve caregivers and educators, these improvements will extend the learning and engagement of families after their visit through better delivery of virtual programs, ”said Jane Bard, Museum President. “The end result is that the vast inventory of educational resources will be more readily available and used to improve student engagement and performance statewide.”

The focus of the Spotlight Fund for 2021 is early childhood education. “Since the museum’s goal is to enrich children’s learning during key developmental years through hands-on discovery and play-based learning, we knew their work was a good fit with our Spotlight fund.” said Liz Torrance, head of corporate social responsibility at Kennebunk Savings. “Throughout the pandemic, they have been inundated with requests for virtual programs that educators and families can use to support home learning. Even temporarily closing the museum doors and experiencing a substantial drop in ticket sales, they maintained their focus on meeting community needs, creating virtual resources and making them available free of charge. The demand for these virtual preschool learning programs has only continued, and we are proud to help make them more easily accessible through a newer and more robust website.

CMNH staff have moved many of the Museum’s most popular programs to a virtual format, available online, during the pandemic and look forward to a return to in-person programs this coming school year. The museum is currently open Tuesday through Sunday, and guests can register for timed sessions on its website at www.childrens-museum.org.
