City of Pittston Develops Web Portal for City Housing and Land Bank Authority

PITTSTON — The city has created an online homepage for three entities, making it easier for residents and future residents of Pittston to navigate online, making it a helpful guide to resources and information about housing, properties , redevelopment, community events and helpful programs.

The City Redevelopment Authority, Housing Authority and North East Land Authority websites are available online at PRDHA.com. From there, you can decide with the agency that will best help you.

“I am pleased and thrilled to announce that the redevelopment and housing authorities finally have an online presence,” said Joe Chacke, director of the City of Pittston Redevelopment Authority. “All of our programs and projects are posted online so that the public is aware of what we are doing, what is coming up, how they might partner with us or how we might to help.”

Cara Wengen, Community Development Specialist for the City of Pittston, created the new portal for the three agencies as well as the redesign of the Redevelopment Authority and Housing Authority websites.

“It was necessary to put all this information online to make it accessible to residents,” Wengen said. “We just want to highlight the website so people know where they can get information if they need information about the housing rehabilitation program or the choice voucher program. People can apply to the Housing Authority, it’s all online now, for example where they couldn’t before.

The North East Pennsylvania Land Bank Authority website has been completely redesigned for easier navigation. The site lists all available plots and the resources needed to apply and bid on properties in Pittston, Duryea, Avoca, Jenkins Township and West Pittston.

According to the website, “The Land Bank was created to return vacant and/or degraded properties to productive status using a unified, predictable, and transparent process, thereby revitalizing neighborhoods and strengthening the tax base.”

The land bank was established in 2014 and has since involved 36 properties with 13 successful sales across the five municipalities.

The Redevelopment Authority website has three sections, one for the latest news, one for support, and one for subscribing to the authority’s latest newsletter.

You can also find the latest City of Pittston Annual Report for 2021, as well as the 2020 report.

The Pittston Housing Authority website provides information on Winter Street, Panama Street, Riverview Manor, Infantino Towers and Apollo Apartments.

On the site, you can find out how to apply for housing as well as the housing choice voucher program for very low-income families.

“We are proud of what has been called the ‘Pittston Renaissance’, but we are acutely aware of other challenges and are working diligently on many other exciting projects and programs,” Chacke said. “If at any time you would like to know more, please do not hesitate to contact us using the ‘Contact’ feature on our website or email me directly at [email protected].”
