Earl’s Auction Company, located on Lafayette Road in Indianapolis, put home COVID-19 testing in their bidding war this week. According to their website, you can submit your offer for in-home COVID testing online, starting at $ 10. At approximately 2:22 p.m. on January 11, Earl’s removed the tests from its website. There were 15 “items” auctioned previously. Each purchase would come with 10 boxes of BinaxNOW home COVID tests.
I contacted Earl’s to make sure it wasn’t a scam before removing them from their website. The company told me, “Yes, there are in-home COVID testing, on consignment, online auction. “
One person who frequently bids at Earl’s stumbled upon the online tests and was curious how it was possible. “I think Earl’s is a very reputable company and only auctions what is auctioned to them,” he said. “But if these kits are so scarce, how can it happen and someone takes advantage of it?” “
