The Federal Bureau of Investigation released a declassified 16-page partially redacted document on 9/11 on Saturday evening.

Last month, President Joe Biden said the Justice Department would review classified FBI documents on the 9/11 investigation and the Saudi government’s alleged role in the attacks.

The document published on Saturday was declassified on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the attack and dates from 2016.

The published document contained multiple testimonies and showed multiple links between two of the hijackers and Saudi associates, but found no evidence that the Saudi government was involved in the attacks.

He said the FBI suspected Omar al-Bayoumi, a Saudi student from Los Angeles, of being a Saudi intelligence agent involved in helping two hijackers – Nawaf al Hazmi and Khalid al Mihdhar – for them. travel, accommodation and money.

Fifteen of the 19 men who hijacked four planes on September 11 were Saudi.

The Saudi government has repeatedly denied playing a role in the attacks. In a statement released on Wednesday, the Saudi embassy said it welcomed the declassification of the documents.

“As attested by the administrations of the last four American presidents, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has condemned and denounced relentlessly the deplorable crimes that have taken place against the United States, its close ally and partner,” the statement read.

9/11 Families United said the report contained revelations “involving numerous Saudi government officials, in a coordinated effort to mobilize a critical support network for the first 9/11 hijackers, Nawaf al Hazmi and Khalid al Mihdhar “.

“Twenty years ago today, they murdered our loved ones and inflicted immeasurable pain and suffering on our lives,” said Terry Strada of 9/11 Families United, whose husband, Tom, was killed at the World Trade Center on September 11. “Now the secrets of the Saudis have been exposed and it is high time the Kingdom recognizes the role of its officials in the murder of thousands of people on American soil.”
