FIND Food launches Against Hunger Day

New

Friday is the National Day of Action Against Hunger and cities and businesses are helping to do their part to help fight hunger for life.

September is Hunger Awareness Month. Several monuments in the city have been illuminated in orange, a color that represents hunger awareness.

These benchmarks include:

  • Etherea Sculpture at Coachella
  • Oculus Sol from Highway 111 to Indio
  • La Quinta Town Hall
  • Palm Desert Town Hall
  • The Kimpton Rowan Hotel in Palm Springs
  • The Palm Trees Grove in Indian Wells
  • Rancho Mirage City Library
  • Cathedral town hall
  • Palm Drive Palm Trees at Desert Hot Springs
  • The square of the tribal administration of the Cahuilla d’Agua Caliente band of Indians
  • Twentynine Palms Town Hall Chamber

In addition to lighting up the orange to show that they are in the fight to end hunger, many of them have vowed to physically show up where FIND Food Bank help is needed.

“Our staff is increasing in the coming months. They’re going to have about 30 volunteers in the FIND food bank to help prepare meals, ”Desert Hot Springs Mayor Scott Matas promised.

Not only will cities help this month, but starting on Friday, several companies will donate part of the proceeds they collect to tackle food insecurity in the desert region.

September 17: Kaiser Grille in Palm Desert and Road Runner in La Quinta donate a percentage of the evening’s proceeds to support FIND’s anti-hunger efforts.

September 22: FIND Food Bank Happy Hour at the Larksburg Grille at the Paseo Hotel, where 40% of the event’s profits will be donated to FIND.

September 23: Grill-a-Burger in Palm Desert will donate a percentage of the proceeds of your order when you mention FIND Food Bank.

All the month: Desert Wine Shop, Ace Hotel and Eight4Nine have special offers and will send donations to FIND Food Bank.

PS Underground is hosting a special fundraising evening consisting of a Sunday dinner themed multi-course dining experience with FIND President Debbie Espinosa. You can purchase an event ticket from the FIND Food Bank website.

This is a global, desert-wide effort to contribute to FIND Food Bank’s mission to end hunger for life.

You can donate, volunteer and advocate for those food insecure in the desert region also by visiting the FIND website for events and programs.
