October’s free PlayStation Plus games leaked online and it looks legitimate

Earlier this month, I posted about a possible free PlayStation Plus game for the PS5 in October.

This game was Hell let loose, a WWII 50 vs. 50 tactical shooter that’s already available for PC on Steam where it currently boasts a very positive user review score.

There are a number of reasons why this is a likely candidate for PS Plus, but the short version is this: The game releases Tuesday, October 5, and PS Plus games typically release the first Tuesday of the month. You can’t pre-order it on PS5 but you can on Xbox Series X, indicating that Sony wants to avoid issuing refunds when it releases for free on the subscription service. The game’s beta / demo weekend was only on PlayStation, not Xbox, suggesting a deal between Sony and the game’s publisher.

There are others but these are key details.

Now French website Dealabs has released what they claim to be the leaked PlayStation Plus line for October. The website has had accurate data in the past, so while we should all take leaks with a grain of salt, it might be a little less salty than usual. Here are the free PS Plus games for October if the leak is correct:

  • Hell Unleashed (PS5)
  • Mortal Kombat X (basic version, PS4)
  • PGA Tour 2K21 (PS4)

It looks exactly like typical monthly PlayStation Plus lineup. A next-gen console FPS, an older but still relatively modern brawler (which has plenty of upgrade options for cash), and a random sports game. There is almost always one game that disappoints me — golf smh — and one that I own—Mortal Kombat X—and every now and then something that I don’t have yet and look forward to. Hell let loose does the trick there.

Either way, we’ll know for sure which free titles for the month of October Wednesday 29 are, so stay tuned. . . .
