Sambalpur University Students Can Now Get Migration Certificates Online

Students studying at Sambalpur University Colleges in Odisha no longer need to run after a pillar for migration certificates for admission to other institutions as an online service has been launched to allow students to apply while staying at home.

The university is the second educational institution in the state after Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology in Bhubaneswar to launch the online service under the Center for Modernizing Government Initiative.

The student service was launched on Wednesday under the Odisha Civil Service Right Act (ORTPSA), the university said in a statement.

Vice Chancellor Sanjib Mittal said students from the university’s affiliated colleges looking to migrate would not have to come to the institute for the certificate as they could apply online and get it.

As many as 222 colleges are there under the university in 10 districts of western Odisha. About 25,000 students graduate from colleges each year.

Many students who pass out are admitted to other universities and apply for a migration certificate. It will be easy for these students to get the migration certificate now.

To apply online, one needs to visit the University of Sambalpur website and click on the “Apply for Migration” menu, after which he will be redirected to ORTPSA migration, an official said.

Registrar Nruparaj Sahu said students will get more online services as the university now focuses on more and more digitalization.
