Vietnam launches online child protection website

HANOI (Vietnam News/Asia News Network): Vietnam’s Network for Child Online Protection recently launched its website for child online protection and receiving reports of child abuse.

The website was launched by the Information Security Authority under the Ministry of Information and Communications.

The network brings together 24 units, including representatives from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism , as well as associations, companies, households and foreign organizations specializing in the online protection of children.

In the “Expression of opinion” section, users, including children, can give their ideas. At the same time, state agencies can consider their opinions in policy making to listen to the public, especially children.

Updated information on child safety on the Internet in Vietnam and around the world and new technologies developed to keep children safe online are available in the “News” section.

Meanwhile, the “Tools” section provides helpful ideas and software for children to engage in healthy interactions on the Internet.

In addition to the Department of Children’s Affairs 111 hotline, users can also submit reports of child abuse through this website. Vietnam Network for Child Online Protection will later verify the reports and take response measures.

The launch of the website is a step to implement the Prime Minister’s decision issued on June 1 last year to protect and support children in healthy and creative interactions on the internet from 2021 to 2025.
